As i told you in my last blog that i became General Manager Marketing in M/S DEBONO FLEXICOM PVT.LTD.They are manufacturers of Modular furniture and mostly they supply in Government Institutions.When i was appointed then they told me that they are strong in government sector but they want to establish themselves in the pvt. sector.
Within a few months of working i came to know that they are accustomed to working in government sector where working is at very slow pace and price quoted is on higher side since there is lot of money offered as bribe to get these orders on the other hand working in the private sector you have to quote most competitive prices since mostly there is bulk order and you need to be very quick and aggressive in your action and attitude and time is money.Commitment is the key word.
But the staff working there was not accustomed to working at such a fast pace and since i had worked all my life in private sector,i started to have regular arguments with my staff and my M.D on pricing matter.I knew that it is not possible for me to continue for long in this company and i started looking for a change and discussed the matter in my home also.
Suddenly at the same time my elder brother who was working as vice-president ( Purchase) in one of the leading construction company of India was talking to one of his suppliers who were into Turn-key Electrical works and they were manufacturers of H.T & L.T PANELS plus they were supplying Sub-Stations upto 132 KV.So the M.D of this company was discussing with my brother that they have started their buisiness from a small shop to 100 crore turnover but now they wants to proffesionalise their company and wanted some body dynamic in marketing who can take them to next level.My brother talked to him about me and he immediately told him that he would like to meet me at the earliest.So my brother asked me about it and told me to meet him at their faridabad office.
But i told my brother that how can i market electrical sub-stations since i am not a technical person and i don't know even E of electrical.The owner of this company again called my brother about me and he told him that i am not interested in this job. He requested my brother to give my mobile no to him so he will talk to me directly.He gave me a call and i replied that how can i will do marketing of something which is so technical plus faridabad is too far from rohini where i reside but he insisted on meeting me and told me to come right away and he will not go anywhere till he meets me.
