Till now i have told you that i became marketing consultant to three companies catering to Timber,Carpets & Furniture Industry and i used to give them two days each of the week.Now i remained consultant for first two companies for continuously for next 8 years but i changed few companies for furniture segment and there was reason for that.
In my last blog i mentioned my becoming consultant to a company dealing in office chairs.While working for them one of our competitor's marketing executive told me that they are manufacturers of chairs and the company to whom i am giving consultancy is actually buying the products from them and on going back he talked about me to his M.D about me.The owner of the company M/S ENCORE SYSTEM PVT.LTD. immediately called me and requested me to meet him at the earliest.So i went to meet him and he immediately requested me to became his consultant.But the problem was that his factory was in Gurgaon and i was living in Delhi and i told him it is not possible for me so far but he told me to come only once a week and he will pay me what i want.So i became his consultant and after working for him for 8 months i across the D.T Cinema project which was under construction and they required chaire for this multiplex but the problem was that my present company was not in position to manufacture these type of chairs.At this point one of my sales executive told me about a company named PANDEY FURNITURE and told me that they are the largest manufactures of Chairs in North India and they can supply these chairs.But some how i did not like the name Pandey Furniture and i did not go there for couple of months but then i got another requirement of multiplex chairs so finally i went to meet the owner of Pandey Furniture.
This company was located in a narrow bylane of Chanakya place opposite Janakpuri which was named "PANDEY WALI GALI"(Pandey Lane).There was five building in this lane and manufacturing was going on in all of them.Although i was quite impressed with the scale of set up but i did not liked the place. But i went ahead and met Mr.K.N.Pandey and told him about myself and about the requirement of multiplex chairs.He very politely told me to see his showroom and he will call me back in 10 minutes.
So i went to his showroom adjoining his office and he sent a coffee for me.In the meantime he called his C.A ( which i came to know later) and told him to immediately reach his office.On reaching the office he came and introduced him to me and he told me that Mr.Pandey has told me to prepare your appointment letter for marketing consultant and he had asked me to know your terms & conditions for it.I got shocked and surprised because i had not even talked to Mr.Pandey and i told his C.A about it.This person replied back that Mr.Pandey will talk to you only after you join us and you are joining us from tomorrow and your all terms & conditions are accepted.
I told him but i have not mentioned any terms & conditions to you so how can you accept it.He replied back that Mr.Pandey has asked me to accept whatever conditions you will put has to be accepted and their is no discussion required and you are our marketing consultant from now on.
They paid me double the amount i was getting in present company and given a free hand to choose my marketing team.So i became marketing consultant to Pandey Furniture without talking to Mr.Pandey.
