MARKETING CONSULTANCY - 1

In my last blog i told you about becoming consultant to another company dealing in carpets.When i joined them they were manufacturing woolen carpets made on khaddi( A Weaving instrument made of wood to make carpets.The first thing i advised them to close down manufacturing unit so that they can save on factories & labour expenses and instead of selling carpets in hotels to start trading and shift their focus in selling synthetic carpets to corporates & institutions.
I told them first to take Dealership of some reputed brands of carpet and we should have the exclusive rights to market that product in Delhi.So they got the dealership of worlds no 1 synthetic carpet company and couple of other companies.After i made the company profile and then started marketing through Architects & interior decorators and directly to corporates and institutions through cold calls.I also prepared pricing and sales promotion policy.
Within 6 months we started getting big orders from reputed companies.It was time of IT boom in india and we started getting big orders from this sector.The next stage was expansion of business and advised them to take the dealership of wooden flooring and vinyl( pvc ) floorings also so that we can not loose any orders and following my advice within a year they were able to do a business of 2 crore from 20 lakhs which they were doing earlier.
So now i was giving them 2 days each to both the Timber and Carpet company and i still had 2 days to spare in a week.
I observed that wherever i am supplying this woods and carpets they also have requirements of huge furniture and chairs requirements in their offices. So i again asked my eldest brother who was in Interior Decoration Business to tell me which company i should approach for requirements of chairs so he suggested me the name of a company from which he had purchased the chairs for one of his project.I met the concerned person and he immediately told me to become his marketing consultant.
So now i was marketing consultant to three companies(2000)




dealing in timber,carpets & chairs and giving two days to each of them.It was unique concept and till date i have not found any other person doing this type of marketing consultancy.
