In my last blog i told you how i became MARKETING CONSULTANT.I became consultant for a company who are the biggest importers of wood like Burma teak ( costliest wood ),Steam beach,maple wood etc.& MDF Boards.They have one factory manufacturing plywood and another factory manufacturing flush doors.They are dealers of all the reputed brands of plywood & Laminates.They have the biggest retail outlet of wood in Kirti Nagar in Delhi which is biggest timber market in ASIA.
So they had a huge set up and very good clients but they were facing a problem that they used to import mostly in white but most of the clients and interior decorators used to purchase in cash so to avoid paying sales tax of 12.5% and it is a big saving. So they required big orders from big builders so that they can generate bills of big amount and within three months i gave them orders of 3 crore from top builders and interior decorators.Now they told me that they don't require more clients and they are happy with whatever clients i gave them because it was difficult for them to manage such big orders and they were happy with me because they got from me what they wanted and regular orders started coming from these clients.
Life became quite easy as consultant and since they were content with orders from my side i had nothing to do and i was practically getting a pension.So one day i told the owners that if they don't mind i want to utilise my time and i have nothing much to do and they agreed and told me that i can do so and whenever they will require me they will call me and there was no need for me to come there on daily basis but it will not have any effect on my remuneration since they are getting regular orders from my client and it was they who had stopped me from getting further clients.
As luck would have it at the same time my eldest brother(Interior Decoration Business) was doing a project and there he required imported carpets of high quality and there he came across a person who was also a civil engineer but was dealing in carpets.He told my brother that his cousin was doing this business and after earning lot of money he went to U.S and got settled there but before leaving he asked me to takeover and since he is a engineer he is facing problems because he do not know anything about marketing.This person was employed in very big company as engineer and left a very good job to takeover his cousin's business.
At this point my brother told him about me and he requested him to tell me that i should meet him.
So i met him and he requested me to become his marketing consultant.I told him that i will only come twice a week and he will have to pay me fixed amount as consultancy fees plus incentive on orders and he agreed on my terms and conditions and so i became Marketing Consultant for second company.
