BACK TO NITCO TILES.

After working as Marketing Manager for several companies while i was working for GOLDEN LOCKS i was again approached by my earlier employer Nitco Tiles to rejoin them and they approached my elder brother who was working in the leading construction company at a senior post in purchase department.So i met the Managing Director of NITCO TILES and told him that i will rejoin the company but i will come to office only once a week and nobody will question about my daily reports and in return i will give them the maximum sales order which will be more then three other sales executives combined effort.
The seniors who were part of company since it established 70 years ago at that time opposed my demand but seeing my confidence  the Managing Director of the company agreed since he knew me because i had earlier worked for them and this time they had approached me  for work.
So i created a record which was unheard of  and there was or still till date i have not found any parallel in my career.But i lived up to their expectation and gave them maximum sales and i used to go to office only on saturdays.I introduced several new initiatives:
1.There used to be two separate marketing division for Tiles & Marble.I asked my M.D to merge them and i proved myself correct by getting the biggest marble order of that time.
2.I told him to give incentives for sales and reward the top performing sales executive of the month.
3.Incentive should be for the entire team of sales so it will promote spirit of team work.
I am happy to tell you that all this suggestion got implemented and proved fruitful.
Now i want to share two incidents with you which surprised my M.D.
We had launched Mosaic Tiles of 16'' x 16'' size and one day a customer came with family and showed keen interest in purchasing those tiles for his entire house in safdarjung development area of delhi.They looked to me from rich family and although the price of that tile was Rs 25/sft i quoted them Rs35/sft and they placed the order on that price.When i reached my home i received a call from my M.D in night and he asked me Mr.Jha what have you done? I replied,Sir have i committed any mistake? He said no,no i just want to know how you sold the tiles at such a good price?I replied that they looked to me from rich family and so i quoted them high price so that our company will benefit from it.He replied,Mr.Jha that is why you are unique nobody thinks like you in fact most of sales people offer maximum discount to book orders.He said i am really happy and pleasantly surprised.
Another incident is when he got very happy with my performance and treated our marketing team with party in a hotel and asked me what i want as a reward.I told him if he wants to give me any reward then he should give a car to Mr.Bindra who was senior most in sales and he was responsible in establishing NITCO BRAND in the market and used to travel in old scooter.
My M.D again got surprised and said that instead of demanding something for yourself, you are demanding car for Mr.Bindra and clapped for me and later on he gave a car to him.
