I have mentioned in my last blog that we went to our village for upnayan sanskar.In fact we tried to go every summer vacation to our village Tamuria which is in madhubani district of Bihar.The reason of going in summer vacation was because of long holidays of school plus because it also used to give us the opportunity to eat lot of mango's of our own orchard.Our cousin in village looked forward to our visit because we brothers used to play Cricket & football reasonably well and those days there used to be inter village cricket & football championship which was very competitive in nature and these matches were played on the High School ground of our village and most of the villagers used to come to watch the matches because at that time ( 1979-80 ) there was not any television or mobiles in that time in fact there used to be no electricity in our village.
So when used to reach there in summer vacation then our cousin's used to give challenge to other village teams on our playing strength and there used to be a running commentary of the match also. This High School was the most famous school with hostel facility with very good mess and at that time there was only two other high schools in entire area of 25 village or so.Most of the student from surrounding villages used to live there.In fact my father also choosed to stay in hostel although he belonged to same village.And to this day he remembers his hostel life and great food which was prepared in the hostel.
We used to get most of our sports equipment from the school.The principal of the school was very supportive of us and he was respected by all villager like a god because he was the principal of the school for 35 years three generation of villagers were his student.And later on he became my father-in-law.
But after his retirement the school is now in bad shape and because of lack of funds now the building is getting deteriorated day by day.
It is really surprising that this school has produced hundreds of engineers,my father is one of them and civil servants,judges and eminent personalties of all walk's of life.When i compare it with the public schools of Delhi in which all the facilities are available to the students and still they require to get extra tuition classes to get good marks while in village students sit on floors and study with the help of lanterns but still they produced brilliant students.
