FAILURE

I was in 10th class ( 1979) and it was a C.B.S.E Board exam where neutral teachers check your answer sheet and their is no bias towards any student.I was a average student through out my life while my two elder brothers used to either top or at least they used to secure first three position always and they were both very good in maths and that is why they went on to become engineers but my maths was always very weak and when ever i sought clarification on any question from them they used to tell me to first learn all the formulas and i got irritated that instead of solving my problem they are bullying me and i stopped going to them.
So,I decided to learn on my own and will show them that i can get numbers with my own effort. But when the result was announced i went to my school because those days there was no internet or mobiles and school used to put result on the main display board with roll numbers.I checked my number and i got shocked to see that i got fail in maths as well as english. As i already told you that i was poor in maths but getting failed in english was a real shocker since i was considered a very good student of english and failing in two subject meant that i my whole year got wasted and i have to study the 10th class all over again.
Now it was very hard for me to give this sad news to my family members who all were waiting for me to come from the school and give them the good news but when i told them that i got failed then first all got disappointed but then they realised that i was in shock and they all gave me encouraging word that i should not worry and these things keep happening but i went into a shell and lot of negative thoughts kept coming to my mind specially what my relatives and my parents friends will think of me.
I was sitting all alone in the balcony thinking about my bleak future and suddenly i heard my father's voice offering me sweet and he told me that failure is stepping stone to success and i am distributing sweets because this failure will teach you a big lesson and it will be good for your carrier. This was a great gesture from my father because normally parents ridicule you if you get failed and these days we see the parents get disappointed even if their child gets 80% mark also and we forget that life is full of twist and turns and their are hundreds of example of successful people in various walks of life who became greats in their field without having a great education or degree.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
― Winston Churchill
