After one year my father again got posted to Guwahati in Assam. My two elder brothers got admitted to Engineering college in delhi and it was not possible for them to go anywhere so my father decided to put them in hostel and fortunately they got admission in college hostel. But it was very difficult for everyone in the family specially for my mother to get separated from them and the very thought that how they will live in the hostel? What sort of food will be served to them? How they will clean their clothes etc.But my father did not had any choice and we went to guwahati leaving behind my elder brothers in the hostel.
Since my father got transferred suddenly so after reaching their we stayed at a hotel in fancy bazzar which is the biggest and crowded market of guwahati. In the hotel we got a cook who used to serve us with very good food specially parathas.
Meanwhile my father started searching for a new house near his site and within a week or so we got our new house in Ullubari colony which was near the construction site of my father who was constructing a medical institute there. It was a hilly area and it used to rain almost daily in that area.It was a small town with lot of greenery all around. But we found that most of the people were not able to speak hindi and their costumes were also different.Even to our utter surprise we found that our immediate neighbour was sikh but he was not able to speak punjabi but was fluent in assamee language. When they came to know that we have a television they got excited and wanted to see how t.v looks like although at that time ( 1978) television transmission was limited to delhi but their entire family came to see our black & white t.v and when we got it started with blank blue screen they were so happy.
