Our Vedic astrology is based on Moon while western astrology is based on sun. According to VEDAS our body is made of PANCHTATVA which are FIRE( AGNI ),EARTH ( PRITHVI),AIR ( VAYU),WATER (JAL) & ATMOSPHERE (AAKASH OR ATMA). At the time of birth of a child the planetary positions decide the future,personality,life of an individual and it's there and then decided that what sort of life he or she will lead,what sort of career,about his married or love life,how much they will earn etc everything depends on which Nakshatra you are born? what is your Lagna? what is the mahadasha & antardasha of planetary position you are going through and how these planets are positioned in your kundli?
Study of kundli is quite complicated but it based on mathematical calculations and it is pure science because there are certain formulas and yog ( planetary conjunctions)which give the same results to each person like if you have RAJ YOG,GAJ KESARI YOG,BUDH ADITYA YOG,PANCH MAHAPURUSH YOG ETC.
One of the most important factor is in which nakshatra you are born because it decide what sort of personality you are going to poses.There are 27 nakshatra and each nakshatra poses a different characteristic and it is further divided into four parts which is called padas since each day is divided in four equal parts and person born in same nakshatra also differ based on which pada they were born in.

ASHWINI,BHARNI,KRITIKA,ROHINI,MRIGSHIRA,ADRA,PUNARVASU,PUSHYA,ASHLESHA,MAGHA,PURVA-FALGUNI,UTTRA-FALGUNI,HASTA,CHITRA,SWATI,VISHAKHA,ANURADHA,JAYSHTHA,MOOL,POORVA-ASHADA,UTTRA-ASHADA,SHRAVAN,DHANISHTHA,SHATBHISHA,POORVA-BHADRAPADA,UTTRA-BHADRAPADA AND REVATI.
