HIDDEN TREASURES OF BOMBAY

Everyone who go to Bombay goes to see Elephanta islands but there are other islands which are there and can be developed as tourist destination.One such place is URAN which is part of new Bombay and is surrounded by sea from three side.Our father's company was constructing platform deep inside the sea(1982) and all the staff used to live in Uran.It is a beautiful place surrounded by sea and lot of greenery and mountain.We were also told that some scences of famous film Sholay was also shot there.There is anot-                                                                                  her island called Mora island where entry of civilians

is banned since it is used as Naval Base but we were allowed to enter there since some construction work was also there and there was Bhoomi Poojan and all the staff with their families were invited there.We didn't knew that it is a naval base and it is restricted area so myself and my younger brother along with children of other staff members were exploring the island and we saw a canteen there and we all went there to drink water there and suddenly one person

came and pushed my brother harshly since he was not able to see the T.V and since i was college leader i retaliated by pushing that person and immediately all the person sitting in the canteen came charging towards us and asked us whether we have any pass to enter the canteen because it was Defence Canteen which we later came to know.When we told them that we don't knew that pass is required since we are outsiders but one of the person was perhaps drunk and slapped my brother when saw it i grabbed his caller and slapped him but then they all came running towards me and we thought it better to run from there and they were all behind us.Somehow we reached the place of puja and my younger brother narrated the whole story there and wept, seeing  this the workers who were mostly Sikhs took the iron rods from construction site and shouted "JO BOLE SO NIHAL,SAT SRI AKAL"and told us to come along and show the person who slapped my brother since we were there Sahib ( Boss) son's so it was a matter of prestige for them so while we were going there my brother saw the same person and told them that this is the person who slapped me .
They grabbed that person and asked me to hit that person with my shoe on his head.Initially i hesitated but later on  i hit that person with my shoe and returned to our place for puja.After the function we returned to Uran by ship from Mora island.Later we learnt that defence person lodged a report with Bombay police against us and they arrested the labourers fom

site and told the Chief engineer that until he handover us to the police they will not release the labours.It became a big issue but later we got a legal point that at the time of incident the defence personal was not in uniform.This point proved crucial and somehow compromised reached and we left for Bombay.
