BOMBAY

After getting re-instated in his job(1982) my father got transfered to Bombay or Mumbai as it is called now.I with my younger brother and my mother went there in our summer vacation.It was for the first time we were going there and we were very exited since we had never seen the sea before and of-course it is a land of film stars.
My father is a civil engineer and he was posted to Bombay as poject inchare of a hospital building near worli seaface.He was considered an expert in building hospitals since earler he had built hospitals in kolkatta & Guahati.He was alotted a 4 bedroom flat by the company in Sion area of Bombay which is a luxury in Bombay and he was living all alone there since we all were living in Delhi.
One of the junior engineer joined under him and he was kashmiri and my father told him that since he is living all alone in such a big flat so he can stay with him since he was facing problem in getting a house and he immidiatly accepted the offer and started living with his boss.
When we reached there the first imppresion while going from station to our house was not good since we found the city is very un-planned.In some areas the buildings were great and suddenly you find chawls or hutments and then their nearby you will find a multistory building.But when we reached the house we were very happy to see such a big spacious flat with balcony view.Later we found out that Samukhanand Hall which is very famous for star shows was at a walking distance and it meant we could be able to see lot of film stars.
My father's J.E who was living with him naturrally wanted to impress us so that my father can make a good report of his working to his head office.He used to take us in evening to the market and treated us with mouth watering fried prawns and fish along with cold drink Rasika or Appela.
